Daniel 9: A Different City/Temple Destroyed in Verse 26 than the One Presented In Verse 25? No.

Any preacher or teacher that tells you a different city/sanctuary is destroyed in verse 26 than the one that is rebuilt is verse 25 … has been brainwashed by others. Even futurists agree it’s 1st century Jerusalem & Herod’s temple that is completed in verse 25 … so tell me how you get to some 3rd temple 2,000 years later to be the one destroyed TWO setences later. That’s NOT what the Bible says or implies. Jesus pointed at Herod’s temple for good reason when He announced its destruction, and the disciples KNEW it woud coincide with the consummation of the age – because they knew the book of Daniel – which Jesus referenced in His Olivet Discourse … things to happen in THAT generation. Jesus didn’t lie. And neither did Daniel. John Darby, however … lied.

Daniel 9 – I’ll even use the Darby translation for you (the founder of dispensationalism)

Read this, and if you see a different city/sanctuary in verse 26 than verse 25, explain to me how you are not performing isogesis vs exegesis with your imaginary temple insertion and changeup of the angel’s message.

24 “Seventy weeks are decreed about your people and your holy city, to finish the transgression, to put an end to sin, and to atone for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal both vision and prophet, and to anoint a most holy place. 25 Know therefore and understand that from the going out of the word to restore and build Jerusalem to the coming of an anointed one, a prince, there shall be seven weeks. Then for sixty-two weeks it shall be built again[e] with squares and moat, but in a troubled time. 26 And after the sixty-two weeks, an anointed one shall be cut off and shall have nothing. And the people of the prince who is to come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. Its[f] end shall come with a flood, and to the end there shall be war. Desolations are decreed. 27 And he shall make a strong covenant with many for one week,[g] and for half of the week he shall put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall come one who makes desolate, until the decreed end is poured out on the desolator.”

Daniel 9:24-27

Darby Translation

24 Seventy weeks are apportioned out upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to close the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make expiation for iniquity, and to bring in the righteousness of the ages, and to seal the vision and prophet, and to anoint the holy of holies.

25 Know therefore and understand: From the going forth of the word to restore and to build Jerusalem unto Messiah, the Prince, are seven weeks, and sixty-two weeks. The street and the moat shall be built again, even in troublous times.

26 And after the sixty-two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, and shall have nothing; and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with an overflow, and unto the end, war,—the desolations determined.

27 And he shall confirm a covenant with the many [for] one week; and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and because of the protection of abominations [there shall be] a desolator, even until that the consumption and what is determined shall be poured out upon the desolate.g
