When Was the End of the Age?

The writer of Hebrews (late AD 60) describes the physical temple as representing the real temple in the heavenly places, claims that Jesus had left to enter the real holy of holies on our behalf, and said that the then-present physical temple was synchronous with the then-present age … and says they both were to vanish away! (He called it the time of reformation – when the Old Covenant world would be destroyed – he was looking FORWARD to it – guess when that happened!)

Hebrews 9:8
“By this the Holy Spirit indicates that the way into the holy places is not yet opened as long as the first section is still standing (which is symbolic for the present age).”
^ Note that the parenthetical is inspired scripture, not my words.

Hebrews 9:24
24 For Christ has entered, not into holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true things, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf.

Hebrews 8:13
13 He makes the first one obsolete in speaking of a new covenant. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.

The disciples also connected the end of their then-present age to the destruction of Herod’s Temple: “You see all these, do you not? Truly, I say to you, there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.” As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?

The “end of the age” was clearly at the destruction of Herod’s temple – AD 70, which wiped out the Old Covenant world.
… which makes perfect sense, considering Jesus said that the WHOLE menu of Olivet Discourse events would happen BEFORE that generation passed.

Matthew 24:
34 Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.
Jesus also said he was coming with angels, in judgment, BEFORE His last disciple died!
(Thomas Jensen didn’t say that – JESUS did.)

Matthew 16:
27 For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done. 28 Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.”

John 21:
20 Peter turned and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them, the one who also had leaned back against him during the supper and had said, “Lord, who is it that is going to betray you?” 21 When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, “Lord, what about this man?” 22 Jesus said to him, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me!” 23 So the saying spread abroad among the brothers[b] that this disciple was not to die; yet Jesus did not say to him that he was not to die, but, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you?” 24 This is the disciple who is bearing witness about these things, and who has written these things, and we know that his testimony is true. Not to mention …

Matthew 10:23
“When they persecute you in one town, flee to the next, for truly, I say to you, you will not have gone through all the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.”
